You may have noticed that we’ve been making some changes around here. Please bear with us as we update the look and feel of our site!
Welcome to the website for Organic Growers School’s Farmer Programs! To go back to the main Organic Growers School page, click here, or click “OGS Home” (located in the main toolbar) from anywhere on this site.
OGS is committed to providing educational opportunities and resources for the current and future generation of sustainable farmers in the Southern Appalachians. Whether you’re just dreaming about farming or you’ve been growing for 20 years, we have a program that can benefit you!
Our Farmer Programs are designed to strengthen the local farming community:
- Apprentice Link helps folks interested in starting a farm by assisting them in finding a local farm to work and learn on for the season. We also invite them into our CRAFT program where they can tour local farms, learn from experienced farmers and become better acquainted with the practices of successful farms in our region.
- We help beginning farmers through on-farm CRAFT trainings, access to our network of experienced farm mentors, and free use of Apprentice Link, and one-on-one farm labor consultation. With this support, beginning farmers are much more likely to stay in our region and succeed in their farm enterprise.
- We help experienced farmers by providing opportunities for them to network with one another in the off-season, receive training by other agricultural professionals in our region, find farm help through our Apprentice Link program and receive free one-on-one farm labor consultations.
Please take time to explore our programs in further detail and let us know how we can help!
